‘Dance With Me’ Book Review

Dance With Me Book

We all have our childhood items that we treasure. This kids picture book book written by Penny Harrison and illustrated by Gwynneth Jones tells the story of a ballerina in a music box who sings “Come, dance with me”. Treasured by its owner, a little girl responds dancing along the ballerina.

However, the little girl grows up and the ballerina is relegated to the shelf. But she misses having someone to dance with so she flits away from the house to ask others to “Come, dance with me”. She receives a number of responses from different animals including a bee, a turtle and even a leopard (beautifully illustrated by Gwynneth Jones). Soon though she find another little girl who loves dancing with her though.

I loved reading this book with my daughter and discussing childhood keepsakes and what she would pass on to her children.

Dance With Me is available from www.exislepublishing.com.au and wherever good books are sold. RRP $19.99. It’s also available as one of three books in the Sugar and Spice Collection as a beautifully presented boxed set. RRP $39.99. The Mummy Project received a review copy.
