Newcastle Region Library is offering an innovative science program for preschoolers aged 3 to 5.
A membership-only club for junior discoverers aged 3 – 5. In this four-part series, children and their parent or carer learn the art of discovering and scientific enquiry.
The Little Bang Discovery Club will be presented by a science educator from the SMART program (University of Newcastle) in partnership with Newcastle Region Library.

Week 1: Collecting and Classifying Objects
Being a junior discoverer takes some special skills. In this first session, you will learn how to be a discoverer. Using your very own ‘Discovery Box’, we will explore the art of collecting and classifying objects.
Week 2: Weighing and Measuring
In this session, we will learn about weighing and measuring – one of the first and most important skills of early discoverers.
Week 3: Experimenting
Explore the world of experimenting. Today, we will ask lots of questions about what we see in our experiments and you will design your own experiments to find the answers.
Week 4: Science Fair
In our final session, the children will take part in their very own science fair and enjoy a fun-packed science show. This will be followed by a graduation ceremony where they will receive a special certificate.
