It was a Christmas wonderland yesterday as we rocked up to Myer Sydney City for the launch of Giftorium.
Myer Ambassador, Kris Smith and Alison Muir, General Manager of Myer Sydney City welcomed us with lovely gift bags, entertainment and treats and explained the concept behind Giftorium.
Occupying a dedicated area in Myer stores across Australia, it’s a one-stop shop for your Christmas needs with a huge range of Christmas gifts, decorations and festive food.
It’s ideal for the time-poor or those who get overwhelmed with shopping for gifts. Even though I’ve become enamoured to decluttering, Kon Mari style, I’m still excited by Christmas shopping. This year, I plan to buy less but buy things that “spark joy”. And there’s plenty to spark joy at Myer’s Giftorium.
Within the Giftorium, there are 7 separate mini-shops such as For Her, For Him, Tech Guru, Kids Cubby (Gifts for children), Paws Corner (Gifts for pets), Stocking Fillers and Food Fanatic making it easy to locate a gift.
In addition to these themed areas, there’s also pop-up shops including Star Wars and Disney.
With the impending release of Star Wars VII: The Force Awakens movie, it was no surprise that there were heaps of Star Wars merchandise including toys, costumes and figurines. Darth Vader, Jedis, Stormtroopers, Millenial Falcons – they’re all there in every shape and incarnation. I’m no Star Wars fan but even I was getting excited about it all. I almost bought a light saber and a T-shirt!
And then it was onto the Disney Section where I found myself singing “Let It Go” out loud. It’s hard not to sing when you’re surrounded by multiples of Anna and Elsa. Just love an impromptu singalong session in the middle of department store. Isn’t that what Christmas is about? Anyway, the Disney section is packed with toys from Frozen, Toy Story, Mickey & Minnie, Cinderella, Marvel Avengers and Inside Out so if your children are Disney fans, this is where you’ll find the perfect pressie.
My favourite pop up shops though focus on personalisation. This Christmas at Myer, it’s all about names on gifts including Santa sacks, Christmas stockings, men’s business shirts, bathrobes and towels. There’s even a Mr Men/Little Miss/Peanuts pop-up shop where you can get personalised framed pictures of your favourite character.
However hands-down, the coolest pop-up shop was for personalised Nutella jars. Yes, that’s right! You can buy jars of Nutella with your gift recipient’s name on it for $12 a jar.
That will make Christmas morning even sweeter! The Nutella personalisation Pop-Up Shop will be in every Myer store in Australia and you can also order on-line. There will be a few personalised jars under our tree this year!
It’s easy to get overwhelmed at the prospect of Christmas and all that it entails. But unique shopping initiatives like Giftorium help to reduce the stress.
We had a great morning exploring the Giftorium. With beautiful Christmas decor, carols playing in the background, colourful and artfully decorated displays of merchandise and helpful attentive staff, it actually made shopping fun. Weaving through the different sections, I was struck by the massive range of products and all at different price points making it easy if you’re trying to stick to a budget.
If you need more help, a friendly Giftician is happy to assist. This is Myer’s Personal Shopping Service consisting of expertly trained Gifticians to make it easy to find that perfect gift. Dressed in a cute easily-identifiable Giftorium uniform, they’re unbelievably helpful. Give them an idea of the person you’re shopping for and your budget and they will be able to suggest some potential gifts. Easy, peasy.
There’s also a Shop and Drop service so you don’t have to carry your shopping bags around while you shop. Myer will hold it for you until you’re ready to go home with your goodies. There’s also Shop, Wrap and Deliver which takes service to a whole new level by wrapping your presents and delivering them to your home on the date of your choice.
Giftorium can be found in Myer stores across the country including Myer Charlestown Square.
Thanks Myer and Kids Business for inviting The Mummy Project to be part of the Giftorium Launch.
