Get together with other readers across Australia for the 2018 National Simultaneous Storytime.
This year National Simultaneous Storytime takes place on Wednesday 23 May at 11am (AEST) and will feature the book Hickory Dickory Dash written by Tony Wilson and illustrated by Laura Wood.
National Simultaneous Storytime is an annual campaign that aims to encourage more young Australians to read and enjoy books. Now in its 18th successful year, it is a colourful, vibrant, fun event that aims to promote the value of reading and literacy, using an Australian children’s book.
Everyone can join National Simultaneous Storytime – it doesn’t matter whether you are at home, a mums group or in a playgroup. There will be sessions at day cares, schools and also local libraries.
Newcastle Region Libraries will be hosting a special storytime on Wednesday 23 May at the following branches: Adamstown Library, Beresfield Library, Newcastle City Library, New Lambton Library and Wallsend District Library. Suitable for kids aged 3 to 7, sessions are free but bookings are essential.
Lake Macquarie Library is holding sessions on Wednesday, 23 May at 11am at Morisett Library, Swansea Library and Toronto Library. The Rover will be hosting a special event at Riaweena Park in Whitebridge. Sessions are free but bookings are required.
Maitland City Library is hosting special National Simultaneous Storytime events at Maitland Library, East Maitland Library, Rutherford Library and Thornton Library on Wednesday, 23 May at 11am. Read by guest readers, the Councillors of Maitland, there will also be more stories, songs and rhymes to be enjoyed. Come along and join in the fun.
