It’s tragic reading news stories about kids being hit by vehicles or being run over in driveways. As parents, we want to keep our kids safe.
To teach kids about road safety, visit the Safety Town website produced by NSW Road Safety. It’s a road safety education website for primary school kids (K-6). My daughter actually told me about it. They learned about it at school and she couldn’t wait to come home and show me.
The site is set up for different age groups ensuring that kids learn about road safety with age-appropriate activities and learnings.
Kids can either view the map view or a list view of “Safety Town”
It’s a great way for kids to learn about road safety issues such as the importance of wearing seat belts and helmets, bus safety and paying attention when crossing the road.
There’s interactive games and books, quizzes and also videos to reinforce the safety messages.
There’s also a section for parents to reinforce road safety messages to kids. In addition, there’s reminders for parents to be mindful of school zones especially when driving and parking near school.
